What's This?

The Speckly search will help you find files based on the BitTorrent (BT) communication protocol which is an open peer-to-peer (P2P) network. In general, P2P networks provide an effect and efficient way to move large files through a distributed network of affiliated files. Our mission is to provide you with an easy-to-use and easy-to-understand website to find BT files. So what does that mean for you?

First, we stripped out the P2P lingo to provide you with search results in a simple and easy to understand format. As such, BT veterans may not be familiar with our representation, so please read on. When you type in your search term(s) and click on 'Search', Speckly will display a list of file results based on your search. All you need to know is that: (a) A minimum of one complete source (aka "Seeds") is required for the file to be available for download. In general, the more source files that are available, the quicker your downloads will be; and (b) Partial sources (aka "Peers") will eventually be Source Files when the file has been downloaded by those persons.

Second, you will need a BT software client on your computer to download files. There are many BT software clients available on the Internet with different features depending on your needs. If you are new to BT, here are a couple that we recommend, but please feel free to research which software client is best for you:

After searching on Speckly, click on a link that matches your interest and you will be directed to the website with the file. Download the file with your BT client. Enjoy!

Although not required, it is proper ettiquette to leave your BT software client "on" for other downloaders to leverage your participation in the BT network of the files that you have downloaded. As a BT user, you are just as valuable to make P2P networks work as anyone in the information chain - including Speckly! (We believe in the power of the people, but we also believe in what is fair. Please read our Terms of Service for more information.)

It's as simple as that!
